Photocatalytically active layer systems possessing self-cleaning, antibacterial, anti-fouling and anti-fogging properties are the cornerstone of the R&D work of the Fraunhofer Photocatalysis Alliance.

The goal of the Alliance is to develop new materials and layers for more effective photocatalysts, as well as their application on a wide variety of different substrates such as glass, plastics, and metals.

The expertise of the ten institutes in the Alliance cover a wide range of disciplines: Material, layer and process development, analysis and measuring techniques for evaluating the biological effectiveness of the photocatalysts and ecotoxicological effects.
